For those who are interested in training, one of our highly dedicated, in-barn trainers is sure to meet your needs! Our trainers offer everything from basic horsemanship to the highest level of dressage and western riding techniques. With multiple indoor and outdoor arenas, featuring mirrors, a regulation size dressage court, stadium jump arena, cross country courses and hundreds of acres of trails, you’ll never be at a loss for space to train, roam or improve your skills or work your horse.

Training and Riding Instruction

  • Student Accomplishments:
    • In 2016, Lucille won both of her classes in her first ever horseshow with scores in the 70’s. She rode one of our lesson horses, Brandee.  She showed Intro Level Test C and Training Level Test 1.  In her second horseshow, Lucille won both of her classes with scores again in the 70’s.  She showed Training Level Tests 2 and 3.  Both Lucille and Brandee were awesome.
    • In 2013, our students brought home many qualifying scores and ribbons showing dressage. Pat and Cole won Region Five High Point Rider/Horse. They also won State Champion on September 29th at the California State Horseman’s Association Trail Trial in LaVerne, California.

Lin has trained and shown horses in both Western and Dressage for over 25 years. One of Lin’s specialties is building confidence in horses and students. She offers training for your horse and/or lessons on your horse or on one of her school horses. Whatever your needs, Lin will set up a program for you and your horse in order to accomplish your goal. Lin currently shows Dressage on both her own horse and clients horses. Over the years, Lin has been active in many clinics, having the opportunity to ride under great instructors such as Jane Weatherwax, Creeky Routson, Gerhard Politz, Betsy Steiner, Conrad Schumacher and Steffen Peters.

Dressage Training and Instruction

  • Age Range of Students:Students 13 and up

  • Student Accomplishments: My students have received first place ribbons at first and fourth levels this year, with K Cusack landing 4th out of 18 at the Regional Adult Amateur Championships riding at First Level and L Langford earned her USDF Silver Medal on Paulette in 2014.

Angela has been teaching and training since 1990. She is a successful competitor from Training through FEI levels. She is a USDF Bronze, Silver and Gold Medalist as well as a USDF Certified Instructor. None of these achievements are as important to her as the daily joy she takes in “playing” with her horses and clients in training. Angela is offering lessons and training for students of all levels on their own horses. In 2013 Angela won several classes at the Prix St George level, plus High Point FEI Champion at Woodside Summer Dressage and High Point PRE Champion. In addition, Angela was just awarded Top Ten at both the USDF and CDS Championships in the Open Prix St George division.

  • Student Accomplishments:This year we have been showing region 5.Natasha went to Gold-N-Grand Kaylee Megan and Natasha all qualified for Cal State Show of Champions and will be competing there in October.

Specializing in Quarter Horses, Western Pleasure, Hunter Under Saddle, Trail and showmanship. Michele teaches all aspects of training from basics to the finer points of showing. Michele started riding and working at stables in Orinda over 40 years ago where she guided trail rides and gave lessons western and English for about 8 years. She then went to an English riding school where she lived for 9 months, riding hunter/jumpers up to 5 foot courses. Michele then earned a teaching certificate through UC Davis and worked several years for different trainers starting out with working cow horses, reining, and cutting. Before coming to Arriba Vista Ranch, Michele taught and trained horses at Hillcrest Stables for 17 years.

  • Destiny has brought students from beginning jumping xrails to her riders competing up to 3’foot+
  • Her clients have shown at schooling shows, to the AA rated national shows all around California.

Destiny previously worked as an assistant show trainer for top hunter/jumper trainers, earning top ribbons and placings at A and AA rated shows. She grew up in the eventing world and has competed up to Preliminary eventing and 3rd level dressage, earning her bronze medal. Destiny has a knack for finding your perfect equine, no matter what your personality or riding style entails. Destiny is a motivated trainer who continues her education and that of her students, bringing expert clinicians like Julie Winkle, Greg Best, and Leanne Hornnes to offer guidance to both herself and others.
